Alex's story deals with domestic abuse and adult themes. It is therefore not recommended for those under 18. A tale of sorrow, escape, strength and freedom. Of compassion, friendship and lust. Alexandra Drake, a lady in her early forties trapped in an abusive marriage to a controlling husband. Out of the blue she finds her life is transformed by the legacy left to her by her the woman she always thought of as 'aunt'. The huge legacy provides the capital and opportunity to escape the troubled marriage. She leaves but the months that follow months throw her into a maelstrom as she discovers ‘who’ she really is and what allows her to escape from the 22 years of hell that she endured at the hands of Lewis, her husband. Feeling totally insecure she embarks upon her ‘new life’ which takes her to London and to Reid’s hotel, a prestigious five star establishment - part of her inheritance. It is here that she meets the incredibly sexy James Aconi, a younger man with movie star looks. From the first meeting the attraction appears mutual and a friendship soon blossoms. James supports and protects through the trauma of divorce, the fear of her past and the continued harassment she receives from Lewis. Despite the age difference their friendship soon develops into more as the caring James introduces Alex to everything that a loving, complete and ‘totally fulfilled’ relationship should be - including things that naive Alex could only have dreamed of, let alone experienced! But, can Alex survive and emerge a stronger, totally fulfilled and happy lady? Freeing Alex is an emotive story of a woman's determination and strength to move on and become free.

I tried my best to finish this book but by the time I hit 45% I could hardly bare it. The grammatical errors were so blatant and you couldn't keep up with who was saying what and it just frustrated me. This author needs a proof reader badly. The story had a good premise to it and I was looking forward to the heroine getting her revenge and her HEA but it felt like she was typing straight from her head and her thoughts ran together, missing words because she was typing so fast and her brain wasn't as fast as her typing. I would re-read this if it's republished after being proofread and all the errors in language corrected. Truthfully, it gave me a headache and I'm a die hard book fanatic that reads at least 3 to 4 books a week.Product details

I truly enjoyed this story. The growth in the characters was great. There were several typos but they weren't hard to overlook. I'm looking forward to the next installment.
Maggie has died leaving Alex a hotel to run which she knows nothing about. But James is ready for the challenge. But is he ready for Alex? Who is still on the run from her her ex Lewis.
I enjoyed this book very much. It was a little slow to start as the beginning sort of reads like a diary. It didn't take too long to get invested in it and after that I was very glad I got it. It's very touching and sweet. It's nice to read a romance with the female lead being over 40. I'd like to see more of those. I'm looking forward to the sequel in November.
This is an unbelievable heart wrenching story! There some good times that make you laugh out loud and some that will anger you and some parts that tear you up.An emotional rollercoaster ride that's for sure. The characters are easy to relate with and easy to love. I have truly enjoyed reading this wonderful story and am happy to see that it continues on.
Well, I thought the storyline was okay, but the writing was off for me. There were too many grammatical errors, it was totally distracting. I felt like some of the character transitions were awkward, as though there wasnt enough development for me to understand why the characters would say certain things. Or it was really strange when they would say or do some things later in the story because of the way the character was portrayed up until that point. I also didnt like how repetative the book was. I felt like the author thought we wouldnt understand or remember some of the ideas unless she repeated it ten or more times! I did finish the book, but I dont know if I will bother to read more from this author.
This is just ANOTHER romance novel, yet it stands out from the rest. How does it do that? Where do I begin? Unlike Harlequin and Avon Romances, it has a little something special an author who is unaware of basic rules of grammar, punctuation and spelling. Sarah Elizabeth Ashley has never met a period she likes. She makes many friends with commas and run-on sentences. The best I can say is when I thought of Alex's boyfriend (I've already forgotten his name) I imagined a young Tom Selleck from his Magnum P I days. I truly hope that this writer is not discouraged. She needs to find a real, qualified editor. Please. Before she unleashes another poorly written story upon the public.

Freeing Alex, nice concept and the flow is great.
I love the uniqueness of the characters and the story.
It's not boring and I can easily get attached to the characters.
The characters, Alexandra has a good character.
She's easy to love and relate with.
Even though sometimes things get a bit tough, she never gave up.
James on the other hand, when I first encountered him he's a bit cocky and arrogant.
But as the story went, I got to like him more.
The other characters are also good.
The story, nice story.
The way the story started is good.
I almost cried on the start of the story.
The drama of the story really got into me.
And as the story goes, the things get exciting.
The way the story ends, I loved it.
